Suzume no Tojimari – Storyline Begin
Let me explain to you about Suzume Iwato. Suzume Iwato is a 17-year-old high school girl living with her aunt in Kyushu, Japan. One night, she had a dream about searching for her mother in a ruined neighborhood when she was a child. The next day, while on her way to school, she met a young man looking for abandoned areas with doors.
Suzume told him about an old onsen resort nearby, and together they went to explore it. There, they found a door standing alone on its frame, which showed a beautiful starlit field through it. But they couldn’t enter it. However, Suzume picked up a cat statue, and it suddenly came to life and ran away, leaving her frightened and alone.
Later that day, during lunchtime, Suzume noticed a strange column of light coming from the onsen site that no one else seemed to see. She went back there and found the man from before, struggling to close the door. He explained to her that he was Sōta Munakata, and he traveled across Japan to find and lock doors in abandoned places to prevent a giant supernatural “worm” from causing earthquakes.
Suzume tried to help Sōta close the door, but they were too late. The worm had already been released, causing earthquake-like damage to the town. Sōta got injured, and Suzume took him back to her home to bandage his wound.
While there, the cat from the onsen resort suddenly appeared, and it turned Sōta into a three-legged chair! The cat was a keystone, and the worm was released when it was removed from near the abandoned door.
Sōta, now a chair, chased after the cat, and Suzume followed them onto a ferry headed for Ehime. And that’s where their adventure continued.
